reflections
photo-shoot 1
My Edited Photos -
photoshoot 2-
IThese photos I have taken relate to reflections as the people are mirroring what the other is doing, like actions, facial expressions and there positioning. Acting as if there was a mirror between. I feel looking at the subject reflections in this way is more effective as you have to use your imagination.
Amiko Kavtaradze -
The first photographer I have chosen is Amiko Kavtaradze. He mainly follows the theme reflection usually using black and white. the use of mirrors changes are perception of reality because peoples faces are distorted and objects appear in the wrong place. I would try and use this technique using mirrors to reflect faces.
These are my first attempts influenced by Amiko Kavtaradze.
Refining my response to Kavtaradze.
Andrea Stone -
I like this style photography as she revolves the image around abstract patterns and reflection concentrating on tall and glass buildings. This type of photography is very eye catching as the colours a very vibrant and stand out to make the picture. The technique stone has focused on is shape, the picture is made up of lots of little shapes reflecting off each other.
Antonio Gutiérrez Pereira -
This Photo shoot is my own impression of Pereira's photography.
I have taken my photographs and edited them by cropping mostly changing to black and white. I also changed the levels to darken the picture in certain areas just like Pereira.
These are my favourite images out of my reflections photo-shoots.
reflective objects
developing my ideas
refining my ideas
Each one of these pictures I have taken from the whole of my reflections project. The purpose of editing these images are to give me ideas on my final piece. To create these I have used Photoshop flipping the same image horizontally or vertically reflecting the same image off of each other acting if there was a mirror. Then adding colour or black and white to make a different affect to the canvas.
Original
I choose this image because I liked that the face was blurred in the background and the reflection on the glass was very visible.
I chose this photo as the people in the pictures are doing exactly the same.

Edited
To create this edit I have reflected the photo off of each other then changing one layer black and white and the other darkening the contrast.
Whilst editing this picture I flipped one layer horizontally acting if there was a reflection but changing one side to black and white. The opposite side I brightened the photo with brightness and contrast and layers.

I chose this photograph as I like that one person is acting like a reflection even though they are different gender.

Here I have used Photoshop to create this mirroring effect flipping one layer vertically and slightly darkening the colour blue around the two.
On one side I used a gentle purple to bring out the background avoiding it affecting the people and the reflected side just black and white making them look darker.

I like this picture because there is no solid person or no solid reflection, the image is very scratched and blurred.
I like this picture as there is only one person but two visible reflections.

Here I have done the same reflecting the photo off each other. I once changed the image to black and white also changing the levels making the picture appear darker.
In this edit I used a more vibrant colour, to get this colour I went in to hue/saturation and increased the saturation to make it stand out. following with the opposite side black and white with curves.
This is one of my favourite edits as the reflection is very bold on this image I only increased the brightness and contrast.
Using the rotate tool I flipped one layer of the image vertically this image looks realistic as it looks like the people are looking at each other like a mirror. I then changed it to black and white also using curves.
I have layered two pictures in this image, I changed the opacity so layer 2 would be noticeable keeping the colours of both the same just increasing the contrast on the background.
I first cropped this picture as I wanted it to reflect from her face and not the wall around it, then I simply brightened the picture also using the exposure tool hide any shadows and making it look soft.

developing my ideas using colour
I edited all these photographs using Photoshop, the main tool I used was hue/saturation changed most colours most being very vibrant and some being soft. I wanted to experiment using colour and I think it was make the reflection stand out more and make the picture its self become more interesting. Making the colours more powerful I increased the saturation level and for a more softer colour I decreased it. In edit 3 I used black and white but i made both colours stand out by using the brightness and contrast tool bar.
combining reflections
refining the multiple reflections
To edit this image I have changed the brightness and contrast enhancing the colour of the reflection in the mirror and the glass, also deepening the back ground to make them stand out.
I simply changed this image to black and white then I increased the levels making her facial areas appear darker so the image looks sharp.
In this edit I used the exposure tool that allows the darker and almost blur out the background. I also felt like I wanted to add colour but a soft colour, to do this I increased the level of 'cyan' in colour balance.
Lastly I changed this image to black and white then used the tool brightness and contrast to deepen the picture even more but mostly using the contrast bar.

the best images of the project
final pieces
I chose theses two images as a set because I could see a connection. Both photos are the same but are edited in the different styles one being ghosting and the other being flipping and reflecting. I like these pictures as a set because they both contrast each other, as one is black and white are very dark and the other is very light. These two photographs are my favourite because they show different types of reflections the first picture I have flipped it making it reflect deepening the photo as I wanted I to bring out her facial expression leaving her to look very dull. Editing the second image I used the ghosting technique combining two photos together flipping one and leaving the other. The top layer I changed the opacity making the picture very faint so two images can be seen. To finish I made the background very dark using contrast and the top layer very soft with brightness. I found that these pictures work well together as there not the same and there is a lot to look at in both pictures.
